Yarmouth High School is a public high school, serving students grades 9–12, in Yarmouth, Maine. Yarmouth High School is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), a private, nationally-recognized organization whose affiliated institutions include elementary schools through graduate schools.
In addition to 20 core academic classes, students must also successfully complete two “Career Exploration Projects” through which they will demonstrate in-depth research, presentation, and technology application skills; successfully complete the “Power of One Project” through which they will demonstrate global awareness, civic engagement, and the ability to work collaboratively; and successfully complete 60 hours of community service.
All courses at Yarmouth High School are designated as either College Preparatory or as Honors/AP. Honors/AP classes have higher expectations in terms of the workload as well as the content learned in the class. 83 percent of students take the AP test and the success rate for passing the exam is 83 percent.
A student may participate in Early Study Aspirations, an enrichment program for high school students sponsored by the University of Southern Maine. It is an year-long program, available to students during both the fall and spring semesters. Early Study Aspirations is designed to offer qualified area high school students the opportunity to enroll in selected college courses.
